Laffs, laffs, laffs!

Two marvellously amusing stories today, comedy jewels glistening amidst the wreckage of Capitalism As We Know It to keep our spirits up. Just like in the Blitz. A bit.

First, the Object Of This Blog's Obsession, in the latest part of the Katie Couric interview to be released, fails to name one newspaper or magazine that she has read about world events. Not one.

I particularly like this bit of Socratic dialogue:

Couric: "When it comes to establishing your world view, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?"

Palin: "I've read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media."

And second, the lovely Cherie has compared, in an interview with Vanity Fair (wonder how much she got for that?), her Tone to...well, let's leave it to her:

"I'm sure history will judge him very well. I think he'll be up there with Churchill."

Course he will, love. Course he will.

A quick head-to-head:

Wars started:

Tony - 2
Winnie - 0

Wars won:

Tony - 0
Winnie - 1

Impregnations whilst in office:

Tony - 2
Winnie - 0

I think it's looking pretty evenly matched so far...

Yeh, but when you have to rely on impregnators whilst in office as a top trump category to get even, you know you're in trouble as a premier

Jonny, your snide comment about Cherie can be tackled on another day, but have you seen the latest from the SP/Katie Couric interview? Apparently there is unseen footage 'leaked' where she can only name one Supreme Court decision (would you believe it is Roe v Wade). So in a space of a couple of weeks she has demonstrated her lack of understanding of a) economics b) foreign policy c) the media and now d) basic legal frameworks. What else is left? Yet we all know she will pull through in tonight's debate.

kg-b: I know, it's incredible, isn't it? Somebody pointed out that the reason she can cope with debates is that the format does not normally allow follow-up questions: she can just blether, give a folksy story and a wink, then on to the next question. Couric, on the other hand, kept pushing for her answers to questions. Result: car crash telly.

And I know I was snide about CB. That comment of hers deserved snideness.
