Palin-Rice 2012 Tote Bag
We've started to hear about the happy thought of a Palin run for the Presidency in 2012, but browsing today has been the first time that I have picked up on the Palin-Rice meme. Just in a couple of blogs, with nobody serious behind it so far as I can make out. Even if Palin somehow got the Republican nomination in 2012, I simply can't see her asking Condi to join the ticket; or Rice agreeing to join it. Can you? Perhaps those pushing it have seen that Obama is a black man, that he's popular, and have noticed that Condi is black too...

There are enthusiastic Republicans who like both women, and then there's Cafe Press.
Trust me here: expect both Palin and Rice to bypass 2012. Presidents (say, like Carter or Bush the Elder) only get fired when they come a cropper. I don't expect this to happen to Obama, unless he turns into Mr. Appeasement. Then he'll get dumped, and fast.
We'll know if he's a weak sister within a year or two.
So expect both Palin and Rice to stay on the sidelines for now, especially Palin.
The idea of Rice agreeing to be Palin's VP is just too dreadful. She is everything that Palin isn't - extremely clever, experienced, and also an actual 'Strong Independent Woman' (rather than, say, a dim, dishonest, inexperienced woman who thinks other women should be forced to give birth to the chidren of men who raped them. But I digress ...)
I actually thought there was something to be said for Rice as the Republican nominee this year. But presumably she's too closely associated with Bush and his policies to have succeeded now. (If it had come down to a contest of Rice v Hillary Clinton, I would actually have secretly supported Rice.)
